What Can You Ship from China to Germany? Goods and Restrictions Guide
Start with two separate questions: does the route accept the item, and does Germany permit its import? A “special-goods” label answers only the first question. It is not a customs approval.
Send product links and details for review before ordering food, cosmetics, liquids, powders, medicine, batteries or branded goods. Rules and route acceptance can change.
Quick screening table
| Product group | Working status | What to provide before dispatch |
|---|---|---|
| Unbranded clothing, books, simple household goods | Often suitable for general-goods routes | Name, quantity, value and material |
| Shoes, bags and branded goods | Review required | Brand, authenticity evidence, links and quantity |
| Packaged snacks | Ingredient-level review required | Full ingredient label, manufacturer packaging, shelf life and quantity |
| Cosmetics, creams and gels | Special-route review required | Product form, capacity, ingredients and packaging |
| Sprays, perfume and alcohol-containing products | High-risk or not accepted | Safety/ingredient information; do not order before approval |
| Electronics with an installed battery | Route review required | Device name, battery type, watt-hours if available and quantity |
| Power banks or standalone batteries | Not accepted by YANCHAO | Do not send to the warehouse |
| Powder or medicine | Product-level review required | Exact name, ingredients, purpose, amount and original packaging |
| Knives or sharp tools | Product and legal review required | Exact type, dimensions, intended use and product link |
| Fresh food, tobacco, e-cigarettes, live plants or animals | Not accepted by YANCHAO | Do not send to the warehouse |
| Counterfeit goods | Not accepted | Do not purchase for forwarding |
“Often suitable” is not a promise. The exact route, quantity, value and German import rules still control.
Can food be shipped from China to Germany?
Some shelf-stable, commercially packaged foods may be considered after ingredient review. Meat, milk and products made from them require particular caution.
Germany's Federal Ministry of Agriculture states that meat, milk and their products are generally prohibited from entering the EU from non-EU countries. Its guidance lists limited exceptions for certain products and quantities. Examples that may fall outside the general ban include some bread, cakes, biscuits, chocolate and confectionery that do not contain or are not filled with meat products, but the exact ingredients and applicable rule still need checking.
Before ordering a snack, provide:
- front and back packaging photos;
- complete ingredient list;
- product name and manufacturer;
- net weight and number of packs;
- presence of meat, milk, egg, fish or honey;
- storage requirement and expiry date.
Do not rely on a seller's statement that a product is “normal food.” A sausage-flavoured snack, milk tea powder, meat-filled pastry or supplement can require a different legal assessment.
Can cosmetics be shipped to Germany?
Do not treat all cosmetics as one category. A solid powder, water-based cream, aerosol spray and alcohol-based perfume have different transport risks.
YANCHAO can review some eligible creams, gels and skincare products for special-goods routes. Alcohol-based perfume is not accepted. Sprays, pressurised containers, nail products and products with flammable ingredients need separate review and may be rejected.
Provide the product form, container size, total quantity, ingredient or safety information, packaging and product link. Ask whether leakage or breakage is covered before choosing insurance; acceptance for transport does not automatically mean every type of damage is insured.
Can electronics and batteries be shipped?
Some devices with a battery installed may fit an eligible built-in-battery route. Power banks and standalone batteries are not accepted by YANCHAO.
For an electronic item, provide:
- exact device name and model;
- whether a battery is installed, removable or packed separately;
- battery chemistry, capacity and watt-hours where available;
- number of devices;
- product link and packaging details.
Do not hide or misdescribe a battery. Undeclared batteries can create safety, customs and return problems.
What about medicine, supplements and powders?
These products need individual review. Supply the name, ingredients, dosage form, intended use, quantity and original packaging. Germany may apply pharmaceutical, food-supplement or product-safety rules beyond ordinary customs processing.
A carrier accepting a powder does not establish that a medicine or supplement can lawfully be supplied to a German consumer. Obtain competent regulatory advice where the product's legal status is uncertain.
Branded goods and counterfeits
Genuine branded goods can still require route review and proof of purchase. Counterfeit goods are not accepted. German and EU customs authorities can detain goods suspected of infringing intellectual-property rights.
Keep order pages, seller details, payment records and photographs. Avoid removing all identifying packaging from a genuine item when proof may be needed.
Goods YANCHAO does not accept
The operational prohibited list includes, among other items:
- power banks and standalone batteries;
- alcohol and alcohol-based perfume;
- fresh food;
- tobacco and e-cigarettes;
- counterfeit goods;
- live plants and live animals;
- prohibited weapons, dangerous chemicals and other illegal goods;
- certain data-storage devices.
This is not an exhaustive legal list. A product can also be rejected because of its condition, quantity, packaging, route rules or destination law.
A five-step product check
- Save the seller link and clear product photos.
- Record the exact name, brand, material or ingredients, capacity, quantity and value.
- Identify batteries, liquid, powder, magnetism, sharp edges or controlled ingredients.
- Ask YANCHAO which current route, if any, accepts the product to the German postcode.
- Check whether German or EU import permission, tax, licence or recipient documentation is also required.
Only purchase after both transport and destination questions are reasonably resolved.
How should accepted goods be declared?
Use a specific, truthful description. “Cotton T-shirt,” “face cream, 50 ml” or “Bluetooth keyboard with installed lithium battery” is more useful than “clothes,” “gift” or “electronics.” State genuine quantities and values and keep purchase evidence.

Official restriction check and related Germany guides
A route’s cargo label does not override German import law. Check the German Customs pages on country-specific restrictions and the rules relevant to the exact product before buying.

Frequently asked questions
Can I ship meat snacks from China to Germany?
Do not assume so. German official guidance says meat, milk and products made from them are generally prohibited from entering the EU from non-EU countries, subject to limited exceptions. Check the exact ingredients and current official rule before purchase.
Can I ship skincare products to Germany?
Some creams and gels may fit an eligible special-goods route after review. Provide ingredients, form, capacity, quantity and packaging. Alcohol-based perfume is not accepted by YANCHAO.
Can I ship a phone or laptop to Germany?
Some electronics with an installed battery may be eligible. Provide the model and battery details. Power banks and standalone batteries are not accepted.
Does a special-goods route guarantee German customs clearance?
No. It indicates carrier acceptance for specified goods under route rules. German and EU import rules remain separate, and customs may inspect or request evidence.
What happens if I send a prohibited item to the warehouse?
It may be refused, held, returned or require another permitted disposal arrangement, with costs depending on the circumstances. Ask before purchasing rather than after warehouse arrival.
