Parcel Forwarding from China to Italy: Routes, Customs and Process

These ranges describe the transport product, not the complete seller-to-door journey. Seller dispatch, China domestic transport, warehouse intake, consolidation and customs examination add time.

How the forwarding process works

1. Obtain your China warehouse address

Create a YANCHAO account and use the assigned warehouse address and customer ID for Taobao, 1688, JD or other purchases.

2. Check restricted or sensitive goods first

Send the product link, exact item name, ingredients or material, quantity, value and any liquid, powder, battery or brand details. Route acceptance does not override Italian or EU import law.

3. Review warehouse arrivals

Confirm the item and quantity after each seller parcel arrives. Intake photographs can reveal an obvious mismatch, but they are not authentication, compliance testing or customs approval.

4. Consolidate and protect

Remove unnecessary outer packaging where safe and combine compatible orders. Fragile goods, liquids, sharp objects and dense metal items can require reinforcement, separation or a different route.

5. Compare final packed measurements

Use the packed actual weight and dimensions. The payable weight is normally the greater of actual and volumetric weight, subject to route minimums and rounding.

6. Declare and dispatch

Use exact descriptions, quantities and genuine purchase values. Keep order pages, invoices and payment records until delivery.

How chargeable weight works

Volumetric weight = length × width × height ÷ divisor

Most referenced Europe routes use divisor 6000. A reduced-volumetric air route uses 12000 for eligible goods. A 60 × 45 × 40 cm carton produces 18 kg at divisor 6000 and 9 kg at 12000. If the carton weighs 12 kg, the 6000 route is volume-led while the 12000 route is weight-led.

The smaller volumetric number does not guarantee the cheapest quote because tariffs, minimums, cargo acceptance and size limits differ.

What should an Italian customs declaration contain?

Use specific descriptions such as “cotton T-shirts,” “face cream, 50 ml” or “keyboard with installed battery.” Include quantities and genuine values. Avoid vague terms such as “gift,” “accessories” or “personal items.”

Italy's Customs and Monopolies Agency explains that online purchases arriving from non-EU countries can be subject to customs duty, VAT and, where relevant, excise duty. Since 1 July 2026, the EU's temporary EUR 3 duty applies per tariff item type to qualifying distance-sale consignments valued at no more than EUR 150.

What goods need special review?

Food, cosmetics, liquids, powders, medicine, built-in-battery products and branded goods need product-level review. Power banks, standalone batteries, alcohol, alcohol-based perfume, fresh food, tobacco, e-cigarettes, counterfeit goods and live plants or animals are among the goods YANCHAO does not accept.

Meat, milk and products made from them are generally prohibited from entering the EU from non-EU countries, subject to limited exceptions. A food-capable route does not by itself make a meat- or dairy-containing product admissible.

Italy address checklist

Provide the recipient's full legal name, street type and name, civic number, five-digit CAP postcode, comune/city, province abbreviation where required and a working phone number. Include apartment, staircase, floor, intercom name or c/o information when necessary.

Do not assume that a rural or island postcode has the same final-mile conditions as central Milan or Rome. Confirm remote-area or island coverage before payment.

• Selecting a tariff before disclosing the goods.
• Comparing quotes with different carton dimensions or customs terms.
• Using an estimated seller weight after consolidation has changed the parcel.
• Treating DDP as protection from inspection.
• Declaring mixed goods under one vague description.
• Omitting the civic number, CAP, intercom name or recipient phone number.
• Assuming mainland coverage automatically includes every island or remote locality.
