Parcel Forwarding from China to France: Routes, Customs and How It Works
Consolidate compatible orders first, then choose a France route from the final packed measurements. Current YANCHAO planning estimates are 8–15 days by air, 25–35 by truck and 45–60 by sea.
This is YANCHAO's France country hub. The cost page, provider-selection page and the existing snacks-and-cosmetics guide cover their own narrower questions.
Which route should you use from China to France?
Choose by cargo type, final chargeable weight, carton size and deadline. Air suits smaller or urgent eligible parcels. Truck routes start at 12 kg and suit heavier, less urgent consignments. Sea starts at 21 kg on the referenced Europe service and gives the widest large-carton allowance, but it requires the longest planning window.
| Route family | Current planning estimate | Typical fit | Important condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe air | 8–15 days | Small or urgent eligible parcels | General and special-goods routes have different acceptance rules |
| Europe truck | 25–35 days | 12 kg+ parcels that can wait longer | DDP on the current referenced routes; parcel limits still apply |
| Europe sea | 45–60 days | 21 kg+ heavy, bulky or oversized consignments | Confirm final-mile scope and current customs term |
These ranges describe the transport product, not the full shopping-to-delivery timeline. Seller dispatch, warehouse intake, consolidation and customs examination add separate time.
How does the forwarding process work?
1. Register and obtain the warehouse address
Create a YANCHAO account and copy the assigned China warehouse address and unique customer ID. That ID lets the warehouse match domestic deliveries to the correct account.
2. Shop from Chinese sellers
Use the warehouse address for orders from Taobao, 1688, JD or other sellers. Add each domestic tracking number to the account when required. YANCHAOBUY can also assist with purchasing when the seller or payment method is difficult to use internationally.
3. Check each warehouse arrival
Warehouse intake normally records the parcel and makes its status visible. Verify the product, quantity and obvious condition before requesting international packing. A forwarding intake check is not product authentication or a laboratory inspection.
4. Consolidate compatible goods
Ask the warehouse to remove unnecessary seller packaging, combine compatible orders and add protection appropriate to the contents. Liquids, fragile goods and dense metal items may need different packing from clothing or plush toys.
5. Choose the route after packing data is available
The payable calculation should use the final actual weight and packed dimensions. Select a route that accepts the goods, serves the French postcode and matches the required customs term.
6. Pay, dispatch and track
After payment and dispatch, use the international tracking number. Customs or the delivery partner may request information even when the route includes arranged clearance.
How is a France parcel billed?
The working chargeable weight is normally the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight, subject to the selected route's minimum and rounding rule.
Volumetric weight = length × width × height ÷ divisor
Most referenced Europe routes use a divisor of 6000. The reduced-volumetric air route uses 12000 and can suit eligible light, bulky goods such as clothing or plush items. It does not automatically produce the lowest total, because its base tariff, size rules and cargo acceptance also matter.
For example, a 52 × 42 × 42 cm carton produces:
- 15.288 kg at divisor 6000;
- 7.644 kg at divisor 12000.
If the actual packed weight is 10 kg, the 6000 route is volume-led while the 12000 route is weight-led. Compare the complete quotes, not only the divisor.
What can be forwarded to France?
Carrier acceptance and French import permission are two separate checks. General goods such as unbranded clothing, books and ordinary household items may fit a general-goods route. Food, liquids, cosmetics, medicine, built-in-battery products and branded goods require product-level review and an eligible special-goods service.
YANCHAO does not accept prohibited goods such as power banks, standalone batteries, alcohol, alcohol-based perfume, fresh food, tobacco, e-cigarettes, counterfeit goods, live plants or animals and certain data-storage devices.
The destination rules still control. The European Commission's personal-import guidance explains that meat, milk and their products sent from most non-EU countries can present animal-health risks and are tightly restricted, including goods sent by post.

What should the customs declaration contain?
Use specific product names, quantities and genuine purchase values. Keep the order page and payment record until delivery. “Personal goods,” “samples” or “accessories” may be too vague to support a customs review.
For cosmetics, include the form, capacity and whether the product is a spray or perfume. For electronics, state whether the battery is installed and provide battery information. For food, list the product and ingredients rather than declaring everything as “snacks.”
French Customs states that purchases entering metropolitan France from outside the EU are subject to VAT from the first euro. Since 1 July 2026, a temporary EUR 3 flat customs duty applies per declared tariff item line to qualifying distance sales of imported goods valued at EUR 150 or less. The French Customs notice explains the scope and exceptions.
Does YANCHAO offer DDP delivery to France?
Selected current Europe routes use DDP handling, including the referenced truck routes. Do not assume every France option is DDP. The route displayed for the actual parcel controls, and exceptional charges such as remote-area, oversize, address-correction, storage or return costs can have separate terms.
DDP allocates import-clearance and charge responsibility. It does not prevent customs inspection, legalise a restricted item or correct an inaccurate declaration.
A France shipment checklist
Before asking for a quote, prepare:
- metropolitan France or overseas-territory destination;
- postcode and complete delivery address;
- exact item names and quantities;
- order value and currency;
- estimated actual weight and dimensions;
- liquid, powder, food, cosmetics, medicine, magnet or battery details;
- deadline and preferred transport mode;
- requirement for DDP or willingness to pay charges on arrival.
France's overseas departments and territories can follow different tax, customs and routing rules from metropolitan France. Do not use a Paris quote for Réunion, Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana or Mayotte.
Which mistakes cause the most trouble?
- Choosing a route before disclosing the real goods.
- Comparing prices with different carton dimensions or customs terms.
- Treating an estimated warehouse weight as the final invoice.
- Assuming every “food” or “cosmetics” route makes the product admissible in France.
- Omitting a building code, apartment number, recipient phone number or correct postcode.
- Using a metropolitan-France route for an overseas department.
- Declaring a purchase as a gift when it does not meet the legal conditions.

Frequently asked questions
How long does parcel forwarding from China to France take?
The current YANCHAO planning ranges are 8–15 days for Europe air, 25–35 days for the referenced truck routes and 45–60 days for the referenced sea route. These are estimates for the transport service, not the complete seller-to-door timeline.
Can I consolidate Taobao and 1688 orders for France?
Yes, compatible orders from several Chinese sellers can be received and consolidated. Final packing should separate incompatible or restricted goods and preserve enough protection for the selected route.
Is shipping from China to France charged by actual weight?
The selected route normally compares actual and volumetric weight and bills the greater result, then applies any route minimum and rounding rule. Final packed measurements control.
Do I have to pay French VAT?
French Customs says VAT applies to goods entering metropolitan France from outside the EU from the first euro. How it is collected depends on the transaction and route terms; verify whether the selected quote includes import charges.
Can YANCHAO ship food and cosmetics to France?
Some products may fit eligible special-goods routes, but the exact ingredients, form, capacity, quantity and packaging must be reviewed. Route acceptance does not override French or EU import restrictions.
