How to Ship from Taobao to Europe: Step-by-Step Guide (2026)

To ship a Taobao order to Europe, send it first to a Chinese warehouse, then consolidate and forward it internationally. Before paying, confirm the purchase method, chargeable weight, cargo category, customs mode and destination restrictions.

Can Taobao orders be shipped to Europe?

Many Taobao sellers only arrange domestic delivery within China. If a seller does not support your European address, you can use a parcel-forwarding warehouse after purchasing the item yourself, or use a purchasing agent such as YANCHAOBUY to place the order and forward it. Availability still depends on the destination, product category and current route rules.

Step 1: Choose self-purchase forwarding or assisted purchasing

MethodWho places the Taobao order? What the service handlesBest suited to
Self-purchase forwardingYouChinese warehouse receipt, consolidation and international shippingBuyers who can place and pay for the Taobao order themselves
Assisted purchasingYANCHAOBUYPurchasing, domestic receipt, warehouse handling, consolidation and international shippingBuyers who need help with payment, language or seller communication

Before choosing a service, check its warehouse-storage period, inspection options, chargeable-weight formula, supported cargo categories, customs mode, compensation terms and live route availability. A low headline price is not useful if volumetric weight, remote-area charges or restricted-cargo surcharges are unclear.

Step 2: Register and obtain your Chinese warehouse address

After registration, YANCHAO provides a Chinese warehouse address with a unique user identifier. Enter the full address and identifier as the Taobao delivery address so the warehouse can assign the parcel to the correct account.

The identifier should not be omitted. If the seller hides or removes recipient information from the domestic label, warehouse matching can take longer. YANCHAO normally records signed parcels within 48 hours; public holidays or incomplete labels may delay processing.

Step 3: Place the order and record the domestic tracking number

For self-purchase forwarding, complete the Taobao order using the assigned warehouse address. When the seller dispatches the parcel, add the domestic tracking number to your forwarding account if the platform requests it. For assisted purchasing, the purchasing service handles the seller-side order and domestic delivery.

Before ordering, confirm the item variation, quantity, seller return window and whether the item is general cargo, sensitive cargo or prohibited. A warehouse can accept a parcel only when both the forwarding route and the destination country’s import rules allow it.

Step 4: Review the parcel after warehouse arrival

After the parcel is recorded, review the available warehouse information and inspection photos before international shipment. If an item is incorrect or visibly damaged, resolve the seller return while it is still in China. Once international shipping begins, returning a low-value item can cost more than the item itself.

When all parcels have arrived, select the items to consolidate. YANCHAO can remove unnecessary domestic packaging, combine parcels and add protection when required. Fragile goods still carry breakage risk and should be declared accurately before packing.

Step 5: Estimate chargeable weight before choosing a route

International freight is normally charged using the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight. YANCHAO’s standard volumetric formula is:

Length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) ÷ 6000 = volumetric weight (kg)

For example, a 50 × 40 × 30 cm parcel has a volumetric weight of 10 kg. If its actual weight is 7 kg, the standard chargeable weight is 10 kg. Some designated light-volume routes use a divisor of 12000, so always check the selected route rather than assuming one formula applies to every shipment.

The amount shown before warehouse packing is an estimate. Final freight is calculated after consolidation and measurement, with any difference handled according to the order settlement shown by the platform. Use the official shipping calculator for current route availability and an estimate based on your destination, cargo and dimensions.

Step 6: Compare routes by destination, speed and cargo type

Destination and routeEstimated international transitCustoms modeSuitable use
UK priority air route7–11 daysDDP on the designated routeSmaller parcels where speed matters
EU air route8–15 daysDepends on the selected destination routeGeneral or approved sensitive cargo requiring faster delivery
UK sea route45–60 daysDDP on the designated routeLarger, non-urgent shipments meeting the minimum weight
EU sea route45–60 daysDepends on the selected destination routeLarge or bulky shipments that meet the route limits

These are estimated international-transit ranges, not guaranteed end-to-end delivery times. Domestic seller delivery, warehouse processing, customs inspection, remote-area delivery and public holidays can extend the total journey. Route prices and availability are dynamic, so the current calculator or order page takes priority over an old article price.

DDP does not mean customs rules disappear. It describes who is responsible for the applicable import process and charges under the selected service. Goods imported into the EU remain subject to EU VAT and customs rules, and parcels entering the UK are checked under UK tax and customs rules. Confirm that the specific route is DDP before payment; do not assume every air, sea or postal service includes duties.

Step 7: Pay, track and receive the shipment

After confirming the packed dimensions, chargeable weight, route and declared cargo, pay for the international order. Track the shipment through the YANCHAO account and the final-mile carrier when a local tracking number becomes available. If tracking stops updating beyond the route’s normal range, contact support with the international order number rather than submitting a second shipment request.

What can and cannot be shipped?

Cargo categoryExamplesRequired action
General cargoNon-branded clothing, household goods, books, ordinary toys and stationeryChoose a route that accepts general cargo
Sensitive cargoFood, cosmetics, liquids, medicine and devices with an internal batteryConfirm a designated sensitive-cargo route and destination import rules before ordering
Prohibited cargoPower banks, outdoor power stations, loose batteries, flammables, weapons, tobacco or e-cigarettes, counterfeit goods and live animalsDo not send these items to the warehouse

An internal battery product is not the same as a power bank or outdoor power station. Some internal-battery devices may use a designated sensitive-cargo route, while power banks and outdoor power stations are prohibited under YANCHAO’s current warehouse rules. Acceptance by a forwarder also does not guarantee permission to import at the destination.

Checklist before paying for international shipping

  1. Confirm the exact destination country and postcode.
  2. Verify every item is accurately declared and supported by the selected route.
  3. Compare actual and volumetric weight after consolidation.
  4. Check whether the route is DDP, DDU or another customs arrangement.
  5. Review size limits, remote-area conditions, insurance and compensation terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I ship directly from Taobao to Europe?

Some sellers or platform services may support selected overseas destinations, but coverage is not universal. When direct delivery is unavailable, use a Chinese forwarding address or an assisted-purchasing service, then select an international route that supports your country and cargo.

How much does it cost to ship a Taobao order to Europe?

There is no reliable fixed per-kilogram answer for every parcel. The total depends on destination, cargo category, route, actual weight, volumetric weight, dimensions and optional services. Use the current shipping calculator, then treat the warehouse’s packed measurement as the final basis for settlement.

How long does Taobao shipping to Europe take?

On YANCHAO’s current published ranges, the designated UK priority air route is estimated at 7–11 days and EU air routes at 8–15 days for the international segment. Seller delivery within China, warehouse processing, customs checks and final-mile delivery must be added to estimate the complete journey.

Will I pay VAT or customs charges?

That depends on the destination and customs mode. A designated DDP route includes the applicable import handling described in its quote, while DDU or standard postal and express routes may require payment by the recipient. Check the selected route and official EU or UK import guidance before paying.

What happens if a parcel is lost or delayed?

Coverage depends on membership, whether optional declared-value insurance was purchased, the route and the cause of loss or delay. YANCHAO’s time-delay benefit applies only to routes marked as time-guaranteed. Review the current insurance terms and retain purchase-value evidence before dispatching high-value goods.

Use the YANCHAO shipping calculator to check the current route for your country, parcel dimensions and cargo category before placing a large Taobao order.
