China to USA, UK and Europe Shipping Costs: 3 Real Parcel Cases
China shipping cost comparison: three 2026 YANCHAO shipments cost CNY 1,085 to California by sea, CNY 1,386 to London by air and CNY 1,590 to Paris by air. These are route-specific cases—not a country-wide price ranking.
Evidence note: The shipment dates, locations, route names, weights and paid amounts below come from first-party YANCHAO operational records supplied for this comparison. Personal identities and tracking numbers are not published. Each case is one observed shipment, not a guaranteed quote for a future parcel.
Quick comparison: what was actually paid?
The United States sea shipment had the lowest observed cost per chargeable kilogram, while the United Kingdom air shipment had the shortest recorded transit. The French parcel used an air route with a 12000 volumetric divisor and recorded the highest paid cost per chargeable kilogram in this three-case sample.
| Destination and route | Final chargeable weight | Paid freight | Promotion recorded | Paid cost per chargeable kg | Observed transit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| West Covina, California — US special-goods sea line, 15 kg minimum | 24.106 kg | CNY 1,085 | CNY 50 new-customer freight coupon used | CNY 45.01/kg | 23 days 13 hours 58 minutes |
| London, England — UK special-goods air, promotional fast line | 15.904 kg | CNY 1,386 | No coupon used | CNY 87.15/kg | 6 days 10 hours 23 minutes |
| Paris, Île-de-France — Europe air, 12000 volumetric-divisor line | 16.240 kg | CNY 1,590 | CNY 10 confirmation-of-receipt benefit recorded separately | CNY 97.91/kg | 14 days 8 hours 9 minutes |
All three amounts are the actual freight paid under the promotion status shown: the US amount includes the recorded coupon, the UK amount had no coupon, and the French receipt benefit is disclosed separately rather than treated as an undisclosed price adjustment.
The “paid cost per chargeable kg” column divides the recorded paid freight by the final chargeable weight. It is useful for describing these shipments, but it does not turn different transport products into equivalent offers. Sea freight and air freight provide different speed, capacity and minimum-weight conditions.
Why is this not a simple country-price ranking?
A fair price ranking would require the same goods, actual weight, carton dimensions, cargo category, dispatch date and destination conditions for every quote. These three cases deliberately preserve what the customers actually shipped, so several variables changed at once.
| Variable | United States case | United Kingdom case | France case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transport mode | Sea | Air | Air |
| Final chargeable weight | 24.106 kg | 15.904 kg | 16.240 kg |
| Speed observed | About 23.6 days | About 6.4 days | About 14.3 days |
| Promotion | CNY 50 coupon | None | Post-receipt benefit |
| Final weight driver | Volumetric weight | Volumetric weight | Actual weight |
The lower CNY-per-kilogram result in the US case therefore supports a narrower conclusion: this heavier sea shipment cost less per chargeable kilogram than the two air shipments in this sample. It does not prove that every US shipment is cheaper than every UK or European shipment.
Case 1: China to California by special-goods sea freight
The West Covina shipment left the China warehouse on 3 August 2026 at 10:31 and was confirmed received on 27 August 2026 at 00:29. The recorded interval was 23 days, 13 hours and 58 minutes.
| Measurement | Before packing | After packing | Reduction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual weight | 50.440 kg | 23.040 kg | 27.400 kg |
| Volumetric weight | 61.969 kg | 24.106 kg | 37.863 kg |
| Chargeable weight | 61.969 kg | 24.106 kg | 37.863 kg / 61.1% |
The final volumetric weight of 24.106 kg remained higher than the final actual weight of 23.040 kg, so volume controlled the recorded chargeable weight. The paid freight was CNY 1,085 after use of a CNY 50 new-customer freight coupon, equal to approximately CNY 45.01 per final chargeable kilogram.
This case shows why a large pre-consolidation estimate should not be treated as the final invoice. Removing separate seller cartons and rebuilding the shipment reduced the recorded chargeable weight by 61.1%. The exact money saved cannot be reconstructed from the weight change alone because the pre-packing figure was not a separate paid shipment and the route may use minimums, units or thresholds.
Case 2: China to London by fast special-goods air freight
The London shipment left the warehouse on 3 August 2026 at 10:10 and was confirmed received on 9 August 2026 at 20:33. The recorded interval was 6 days, 10 hours and 23 minutes—the shortest of the three cases.
| Measurement | Before packing | After packing | Reduction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual weight | 11.660 kg | 10.200 kg | 1.460 kg |
| Volumetric weight | 18.159 kg | 15.904 kg | 2.255 kg |
| Chargeable weight | 18.159 kg | 15.904 kg | 2.255 kg / 12.4% |
After packing, volumetric weight exceeded actual weight by 5.704 kg. The recorded paid freight was CNY 1,386 with no coupon, or about CNY 87.15 per chargeable kilogram.
The main lesson is not that the UK is inherently more expensive than the United States. The customer selected an air product with much faster observed delivery, and the carton remained volume-led after consolidation. A dense parcel of the same actual weight could produce a different chargeable result.

Case 3: China to Paris by Europe air with a 12000 divisor
The Paris shipment left the warehouse on 13 July 2026 at 08:28 and was confirmed received on 27 July 2026 at 16:38. The recorded interval was 14 days, 8 hours and 9 minutes.
| Measurement | Before packing | After packing | Reduction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual weight | 35.300 kg | 16.240 kg | 19.060 kg |
| Volumetric weight | 25.446 kg | 8.433 kg | 17.013 kg |
| Chargeable weight | 35.300 kg | 16.240 kg | 19.060 kg / 54.0% |
The route used a 12000 volumetric divisor, but the final actual weight of 16.240 kg was still higher than the 8.433 kg volumetric result. Actual weight therefore controlled the recorded chargeable weight.
The paid freight was CNY 1,590, approximately CNY 97.91 per chargeable kilogram. A CNY 10 confirmation-of-receipt benefit was recorded separately; it is not subtracted from the displayed paid freight in this comparison.
This case is a useful reminder that a favourable volumetric divisor does not automatically make volume the price driver. It helps most when the parcel is large relative to its physical weight. After the French shipment was consolidated, the actual contents were dense enough for scale weight to remain decisive.
What did consolidation change across the three shipments?
Packing reduced the recorded chargeable weight in all three cases, but by very different percentages. The result depends on what can safely be removed or compressed and on whether actual or volumetric weight controls after packing.
| Destination | Chargeable weight before | Chargeable weight after | Reduction | Reduction rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| California | 61.969 kg | 24.106 kg | 37.863 kg | 61.1% |
| London | 18.159 kg | 15.904 kg | 2.255 kg | 12.4% |
| Paris | 35.300 kg | 16.240 kg | 19.060 kg | 54.0% |
These percentages describe recorded warehouse measurements, not guaranteed savings. Packing cannot always remove seller packaging, compress the contents or change a parcel enough to cross the next billable unit. Fragile goods may require additional protection even when that increases volume.
How should a shopper compare USA, UK and Europe shipping prices?
Use the cases as evidence of how different route choices behave, then calculate a fresh quote using one consistent parcel input. The comparison should keep the following fields identical wherever possible:
- Goods and cargo category. A general-goods quote should not be compared with a special-goods quote as though the services were identical.
- Final actual weight. Use warehouse-packed weight, not the sum of seller checkout weights.
- Final carton dimensions. Volumetric weight can change which figure controls the invoice.
- Destination postcode. Country-level labels can hide regional or last-mile conditions.
- Transport mode. Compare air with air or sea with sea before drawing a price conclusion.
- Tax and delivery scope. Confirm what the selected route includes rather than assuming every product uses the same terms.
- Promotions. Show the base charge and coupon effect separately when comparing offers.
- Time window. Compare quotes from the same date because routes and prices can change.
The practical method is to enter the same goods, packed weight and dimensions into the live shipping calculator, change only the destination and eligible route, and save the quote date. That produces a controlled comparison; the three records on this page show how real packing and delivery outcomes can differ from a simplified test.
Which route type fitted each observed shipment?
The cases illustrate three different decisions rather than one universal winner.
| Priority | Case that illustrates it | Evidence from this sample |
|---|---|---|
| Lower observed cost per chargeable kg for a heavier, non-urgent parcel | California sea shipment | CNY 45.01/kg and about 23.6 days |
| Fast observed delivery | London air shipment | About 6.4 days, with CNY 87.15/kg paid |
| Air shipment where actual weight remained decisive | Paris 12000-divisor route | Final actual 16.240 kg exceeded volume 8.433 kg |
Someone choosing a route should decide which constraint matters first: delivery time, total budget, cargo eligibility, minimum weight, carton size or the risk of volumetric charging. A cheaper per-kilogram case is not better if its service speed or cargo rules do not fit the shipment.
Frequently asked questions
Which was cheapest: shipping to the USA, UK or Europe?
In these three cases, the California sea shipment had the lowest paid total and the lowest paid cost per chargeable kilogram: CNY 1,085 and CNY 45.01/kg. It was also the heaviest and slowest shipment, so the result should not be treated as a general country ranking.
Which shipment arrived fastest?
The London air shipment had the shortest recorded interval at 6 days, 10 hours and 23 minutes. The Paris air shipment took 14 days, 8 hours and 9 minutes, while the California sea shipment took 23 days, 13 hours and 58 minutes.
Did packing reduce the shipping fee by the same percentage as weight?
Not necessarily. Packing reduced recorded chargeable weight by 61.1% for California, 12.4% for London and 54.0% for Paris, but the pre-packing measurements were estimates rather than separately paid shipments. Minimum weights, billing units and route thresholds can prevent a proportional fee change.
Why did the UK parcel use volumetric weight while the France parcel used actual weight?
After packing, the London parcel measured 10.200 kg actual and 15.904 kg volumetric, so volume was higher. The Paris parcel measured 16.240 kg actual and 8.433 kg volumetric under its 12000-divisor route, so actual weight was higher.
Can I use these prices to predict my own shipment?
Only as dated examples. A usable quote requires your goods, final packed weight, dimensions, destination postcode, eligible route and current promotion. Recalculate with the live tool rather than multiplying these case-level per-kilogram figures by a new parcel’s weight.
